Table Talk…
It’s March! It’s spring! The days are growing longer and warmer, and hope is budding everywhere we look, it seems. As I mentioned last month, our little community here at The Table is also growing, and I am so heart-and-soul happy to greet each of you and thank you for being here. It is an honor that you would want to read my words, and I hope that you know there is room for you to bring your whole self to this space. Your successes, your failures, your prayers, your questions, your doubts, your hopes and dreams…all of you is welcome here.
I want to honor our time at The Table together, and so I’d like to know how I can show up best for you in this community. I have put together a brief survey that I’d love for you to take a moment to answer — go ahead and click here. I want to know what you want out of this space and how you envision us growing together. And if you’d be so kind, please go ahead and click the button below to share The Table with others. Let them know there is room for them here, too.
5 Things That Are Giving Me Life This Month…
1) The new family movie, Raya and the Last Dragon. It’s available on Disney+, and it’s something the whole family loves! It’s got a strong female lead and takes place in Southeast Asia. It’s a little pricey to stream, but worth it!
2) SOPE, a company from Liberia that provides jobs to Liberian artisans who handcraft soap! Their Sage collection releases this month with a whole bunch of yummy scents made from rain water + natural ingredients. Check them out here.
3) This edition of Sunday Prayers by Nadia Bolz-Weber, which features her reflections on the one-year anniversary of COVID in America. (I also listened to a fascinating podcast with her called The Bible for Normal People. If you’d like to listen to it [side note: prepare for a few cuss words], you can access episode 157 here.)
4) The Beehive Pastry Box! My incredible friend Nic is an amaaaaazing pastry chef, and she’s started creating monthly dessert boxes that you can order (you can pick up in Philly if you’re local, but she also ships.) The best way to find out what the sweet treat of the month is — as well as keep an eye on sales and when updates hit her shop — is to follow her on Instagram. We got the Valentine’s chocolate box and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD.
5) Hunny Bunny’s Grapefruit Sugar Scrub, sold on Blk + Grn (a website that features eco-friendly products all made by Black creators.) This scrub is amazing, smells delicious, and keeps your skin so very soft!
In Case You Missed It:
I wrote a blessing for the body at the beginning of Lent
I reflected on the frailty of our human existence
I talked about religious trauma on Instagram
I wrote a post about motherhood and being “The Keeper”
I shared a poem I wrote in the passing of a dear sister-friend from church
This Month’s Read…
Kendall Vanderslice of Edible Theology released this incredible book that explores the significance of the table and eating meals with one another. She was selling them as a fundraiser for aid organizations in Texas following their power outage. Though she is not running the fundraiser any more, you can order from a variety of retailer that are listed on her website.
On My Plate…
If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s that I love cake. All kinds of cake. And if it were up to me, I’d eat cake for every single meal.
Luckily, I’ve found a way I can — well, for breakfast, anyway.
This Blueberry Coffee Cake by i am baker is a great way to have my cake and eat it, too! It’s moist, and the blueberries give it a nice sweet tang. I like the vanilla glaze listed in the recipe, but I also use a lemon glaze sometimes and it’s just as yummy!
Young Living Oils…
What's in my March Young Living box? Soooo many goodies! I keep telling you: Young Living is not just oils!
Life9 probiotic
Lip balms for myself and the kids
Other supplements and vitamins
Citrus Fresh essential oil (great for happy vibes in the diffuser!)
Seedings Calm (our nighttime diffuser blend)
A ton of freebies because YL is so good to us! Kyle has a YL account too, so we get DOUBLE the rewards every month!
If you're not on ER, why the heck not?? There are so many goodies you can get for FREE! Let me help hook you up!
Essential Rewards offers you a percentage back for each month you order, plus promos each month and free products along the way! Does your favorite subscription reward program do that? My favorite bulls-eye store only offers 5% (still love you, Tar-jay) & Kyle and I are earning 25% back with YL after more than a year.
